Product Description

The BumpShox XL is our biggest and thickest front bumper guard at 14 inches wide and 2.25 inches thick. Architectural arches and sharp angles enhances the look of your front bumper, while providing maximum protection from parking bumps.

BumpShox XL is a replacement license plate frame that doubles as a car bumper protector. BumpShox XL was designed to compliment the sculpted lines of your vehicle while offering bumper protection 24 hours a day x 7 days a week - no need to remove the bumper guard. The BumpShox XL looks like a license plate frame on steroids; it's approximately 2.25" inches thick at the thickest point and noticeably wider and taller than a standard license plate. To attach the BumpShox XL bumper guard, simply remove the old license plate frame from the vehicle and use the existing bolts to attach.

*** Product Dimensions ***
14" EXTRA WIDE
8.5" TALL (Total Height With FlexFin)
2.25" THICK

*** Screws Are Not Included With BumpShox ***
We do not include screws because most standard license plate screws will work, however, there are exceptions. Some vehicles have very short screws and may require a larger screw. In most cases we have found that screw size #14 x 3/4 inch length works well.

*** Please note that the distance between the license mounting holes is approx 7 inches - center to center. This is standard specs for most license plate frames, however there sometimes may be exceptions. Please measure the distance between mounting holes before ordering.

*** For additional information regarding product dimensions please see photos above

*** Product may be used with 2 or 4 fasteners.

Since BumpShox is made of a special V-Tech foam it will not crack like plastic license plate frames nor will it bend out of shape or rust like metal license plate frames.

Note: BumpShox Will Not Work With Some Volvo vehicles

3Measure the holes before buying!
By David Disabatino
I don't want to give this product a bad review, but I want people to read this. They should know the screw holes in the BumpShox are the standard 7" apart that you see on almost all rear license plate frame in the U.S. However, it seems that screw holes for front bumpers don't have the same standard (or any standard at all, given that they're often tapped by the dealer). Mine are 8.5" apart. Doing a quick survey of the cars on my street (meaning, walking down the street and measuring using a tape measure), front plate screw holes vary between 6.5" and 8.5".

You should measure the distance between your front plate screw holes and be prepared if it's not 7". My plan is to get to the hardware store and buy a thin metal bar, about a half inch wide with holes punched in it every half inch or so. I'll screw that to the bumper with some cushioning behind it, then screw the BumpShox to the bar. I'll update this review once I have a solution worked out.

4So far, so good!
By Jerome
I love the BumpShox. I googled this product and it just came out of no where. I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody else with it. Basically, I have a Ford Explorer and I also have a license plate cover over my personalized plate. Time and time again, NY drivers back into my truck and crack my license plate cover. I replaced about 3 of them so far. Without it, they scratch up my personalized plate. I put this thing on the front plate and all is well so far! It sticks out enough to protect your plates + covers, and enough to deter a person from backing up too close to your car. Yet, it doesn't stick out TOO much to be illegal or gaudy. It's fairly sturdy and firm. [From bumper to bumpshox is: my factory license plate holder, license plate, license plate cover, bumpshox.] I don't think anyone has backed into my SUV since, which is a good thing. That's why I said so far so good and gave it 4 stars. I think they should sell an 'XL' version which sticks out maybe another inch. T hen I'll be 100% sure that it works (without actually checking for damage of my plates). I'll update in a few weeks.

5Great product
By Manbote
I just received this item for my car. Installation was as easy as putting on a license plate. Living in New York bumper scratches are normal. I'm using the Bumpshox now for a month and this thing has been protecting the front bumper very nicely. I know other cars have been bumping into me because there has been scuff marks on the outter edges of the item. Better on it than my bumper. I would recommend this item if your license plate frame is on the bumper itself. If thats the case then you bumper will be scratch fee.
